Post-doctoral position at the Ernst Strüngmann Institute (ESI) in Frankfurt

Postdoc position for functional ultrasound imaging and electrophysiology/optogenetics in awake marmosets

The Fries Lab at the Ernst Strüngmann Institute (ESI) in Frankfurt is looking for an enthusiastic post-doctoral fellow, who is interested in developing the application of functional Ultrasound Imaging (fUSI) to the marmoset brain. This can lead to the combination of fUSI with electrophysiological recordings and/or optogenetic stimulation. Combined recordings and stimulations in multiple areas are ultimately aimed at understanding bottom-up and top-down influences, a central topic of the lab (Bastos et al., Neuron, 2015; Michalareas et al., Neuron, 2016). The postdoc will join an existing international team with expertise in non-human primate research and will be able to use an outstanding infrastructure. For details on the institute and the lab, see: www.esi-frankfurt.de/pf

The position is for three years initially, with the possibility of extension, and can start at any time in 2020 or 2021. This call will remain open until the position is filled. Candidates should have or expect a Ph.D. in neuroscience or a neuroscience-related discipline. Experience with in-vivo electrophysiology or imaging is a plus, and the candidate should have an interest in developing and/or applying new technology for neuroscience. Yet, the main criteria are a strong academic track record and a dedication to perform excellent brain research. Applications should include a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae, copies of university degrees, lists of university courses with obtained grades, and the names and e-mail addresses of two scientists, who can provide references (do not include reference letters). Please send your application materials in electronic format (ideally in one PDF file) to: hr-esi@esi-frankfurt.de
