The Department of Basic and Applied Medical Sciences at the University of Ghent ‐ Medical School seeks applicants for a tenure‐track faculty position in basic endocrine physiology. In particular we look for researchers interested in (but not limited to) the fields of neuro‐endocrine physiology, paracrine signaling and mechanisms of metabolic diseases. Our research group is committed to tackling fundamental physiological questions at a molecular/cellular level, including the biophysics of channels and transporters. We are an interactive group that encourages research at the interface of multiple disciplines and team science. We are searching for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, committed to creativity and collaboration, to join our team of active engaged faculty. The successful candidate will develop and lead an internationally‐recognized extramurally‐funded research program in the field of basic endocrine physiology, contribute to our mission of education and service, and play an active role in the Department. Qualified applicants will have earned a Ph.D. in life sciences, (bio)physical or (bio)engineering discipline and have a demonstrated (post‐doctoral) track record of outstanding accomplishments. A start‐up package, ample laboratory/office space, and a 100% salary package for the PI will be provided. Pending a positive review after 5 years of continued employment a tenured position may be offered.
The Department is housed in a well‐appointed research building on a rapidly evolving Medical School campus with Core facilities and technical support at the disposal of its researchers.
