We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in circuit neuroscience for a postdoctoral position within the “Neuromodulation of Cortical and Subcortical Circuits” Research Line.
Expertise in neurophysiology and optogenetics, combined with viral-based approaches to deconstruct and manipulate neuronal circuits ex-vivo and in-vivo is a mandatory prerequisite. Previous experience with large-scale neuronal imaging in-vivo (microendoscopy and fiber photometry) and programming (Python or MATLAB), together with signal processing expertise appropriate for the analysis of neuronal activity, will be highly valued.
Research activity in the lab aims to resolve the spatiotemporal dynamic of behaviorally relevant neuromodulatory signals at circuit and system resolution.
The successful applicant will be working on collaborative and multidisciplinary research projects to understand how defined micro- and macrocircuits respond to synaptic neuromodulators to implement brain computations, both in health and disease. To this purpose, the candidate will apply neurophysiological, optogenetic and chemogenetic approaches, together with state-of- the art imaging techniques to monitor neuromodulatory signals during behavior.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. PhD in Physiology, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Physics or related disciplines and have excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Applicants are expected to have a strong research track record and to be highly independent.
