Postdoctoral Position (Lab : Mapping Brain Circuits in Spatial Navigation) // Sapienza, Roma – Italy

Profile : The candidates should have a proven track record of in vivo animal experimentation (behavior, husbandry, genotyping, surgery, stereotactic injection) and should be willing to learn computational neuroscience techniques. Less senior candidates could also be considered, and previous experience in computational modeling will be considered a plus. The position is funded for one year by the EU Human Brain Project.

The project : Working in the labs of Andrea Mele and Arianna Rinaldi in Rome, in close collaboration with Michele Migliore’s lab in Palermo, to map brain circuits in the hippocampus and the dorsal striatum after spatial learning and memory. The project will use IEG expression in wild type and transgenic mice to understand spatial memory induced activity in brain circuits; this approach will be associated with modulation of neural activity by viral mediated gene expression.

Application : Contact Andrea Mele (andrea.mele@uniroma1.it) or Arianna Rinaldi (arianna.rinaldi@uniroma1.it).
